We immunize llamas with the molecule of interest, using different delivery methods depending on its nature.
2.WHITE BLOOD CELL ISOLATION
Next, we extract a small amount of blood from the immunized llama and isolate the white blood cells containing the antibody-producing cells.
We extract cDNA from the white blood cells and amplify the entire repertoire of nanobodies generated during immunization. These nanobodies are cloned into appropriate vectors, resulting in a library with over 100 MILLION ANTIBODIES.
We then select the best nanobodies for our specific application and genetically engineer them to be expressed in simple prokaryotic production systems.
